Discord on Your PS5: Coming soon in 2022

Discord is coming on PS5 soon

Discord to come in your PS5, Sony Interactive Entertainment recently announced. A new partnership of Sony and Discord resulting in Discord’s communication services being integrated on PlayStation networks.

“Our goal is to bring the Discord and PlayStation experiences closer together on console and mobile starting early next year, allowing friends, groups, and communities to hang out, have fun, and communicate more easily while playing games together.”

President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment

Discord and PlayStation

For completion of the integration, Sony has made some investment on Discord’s Series H round. In 2015, Discord started its journey and got popular with gamers, enthusiasts, and groups of people with common goals. Discord’s popularity lies in voice chat while playing multiplayer games. Recently they launched ‘Stage Channel’ a Clubhouse kind of feature as well.

About the integration, neither Discord nor Sony said anything more. However, it is assumed that there will be a designated PlayStation app for this. PlayStation already has a voice chat feature inbuilt. The feature is not so intuitive when it comes to gaming and talking with your partner at the same time. Mostly, gamers of other platforms have to struggle with a gamer of PlayStation while communicating. Incorporating Discord will solve the issue. Discord is available on a wide range of platforms like Windows, Android, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, Linux, and web apps.

Wrapping Up

Discord has over 140 Million users. Millions of PlayStation gamers are out there as well. Therefore PlayStation and Discord together will make a very intuitive gaming experience for PlayStation gamers. There is a lot to know about the integrations and features. Stay tuned for more updates.
