Apple iPhone 13 and Google Pixel 6 are the base models of their respective flagship lineups. Both devices are great and recently released. So which one should be your next phone. Let’s find out –

Design and Display

When it comes to design, Apple prefers smaller changes. Thus iPhone 13 is more like iPhone 12, iPhone 11, and iPhone X in a lot of ways. However, the new diagonal camera placement and color shades make it easier to identify Apple iPhone 13 devices.

The iPhone 13 comes with a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate. The notch is now 20% smaller with FaceID integrated as well.

Google, by the way, came with new designs for their Pixel 6 series. Not to mention, there are several hardware upgrades as well. However, the top center punch hole selfie cam is nothing new on Pixel 6. The main camera module is a vertical bump that is entirely new and looks amazing.

Google Pixel 6 comes with a 6.4-inch, Full HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The display is flat and looks very premium.

Hardware and Software

Google Pixel 6 has the new Tensor chipset powering the device. This is Google’s first in-house chip for an Android device. Pixel 6 is also running on Android 12.

On the other hand, iPhone 13 has an A15 Bionic chip under the hood and runs on iOS 15. If you are comparing Benchmarks and Speed tests, A15 Bionic is insane. In reality, the performance seems quite similar. Worth mentioning that, A15 and iOS 15 obviously better optimized.

Both devices promise three years of software updates and about five years of security updates. Honestly, Android doesn’t perform well with these patches installed after a couple of years. Apple is no good either when it comes to considering older phones. 4-year-old iPhone 8 gets iOS 15 but there is plenty of features missing on the device.

Moving on, iPhone 13 has up to 512GB of internal storage variants with 4GB RAM. These are pretty decent numbers. Pixel 6, on the other hand, comes with 8GB RAM with storage options up to 512GB.

Cameras

iPhone 13 comes with a 12MP wide-angle and a 12MP, 120 degrees, ultra-wide-angle shooter as the main module. The ultra-wide-angle shooter has now an f/2.4 aperture, allowing better low light performance. Apart from that, there is Cinematic mode, new Night mode, and other software features as well.

There is a 12MP wide-angle shooter with SL 3D (depth/biometric sensor) in the selfie module at the front on the notch. Both the main module and selfie module supports 4K video recording up to 6 fps.

Pixel 6 comes with a 50MP wide-angle main shooter with a 12MP, 114 degrees, ultra-wide cam as well. The ultra-wide-angle shooter has an f/2.2 aperture that too works impressively in low light conditions.

An 8MP wide-angle shooter is there as the selfie cam on Pixel 6. This cam offers decent selfies with 1080p videos @30 fps.

Battery

Battery life is a major concern these days. Google Pixel 6 comes with a 4,600mAh battery. You will get 30W fast wired charging, 21W fast wireless charging with Pixel Stand, and 12W Qi wireless charging.

iPhone 13 comes with a 3,240mAh battery with 20W fast wireless charging, 15W Magsafe wireless charging, and 7.5W Qi wireless charging.

Both the phones are capable of carrying you throughout the day with a single charge. These devices take very little time to charge themselves so the battery should not be a concern anymore.

Pricings

Pixel 6 is neither a flagship nor a mid-range device. It sits in between and is priced accordingly. Google Pixel 6 comes with a $599 price tag.  Even being smaller, heavier, and more or less similarly designed like its predecessors, iPhone 13 will cost you $799.

iPhone 13 or Pixel 6 to Pick?

You see, Pixel 6 lineup is a decent device from Google in years. The cameras are good, the new SoC is there, and you will get that premium look. Android has a massive user base as well. Pixel 6 lacks some of the flagship features. To refute that, the price is comparatively reasonable to other devices of the same kind.

On the other, iPhone 13 is a device that will support you for five to six years without issues. If you’re into the Apple ecosystem, you will get the most out of it. Excellent performance with almost all the flagship features makes iPhone 13 a good deal right now.

If you are considering budget, Android is your comfort zone, and you are more like a medium to heavy user, go for Pixel 6. You aren’t losing anything significantly noticeable.

On the other hand, if you are looking for something to use for years, you are a camera person, and you prefer Apple Ecosystem, go for iPhone 13. it might cost you $200 more but you won’t regret it.
