Sony’s Saying

Recently Sony held a private conference session with Analysts and Specialists. In certain discussions, Sony mentioned the huge demand for PlayStation 5 and their current limitations of supply for that.

“I don’t think demand is calming down this year and even if we secure a lot more devices and produce many more units of the PlayStation 5 next year, our supply wouldn’t be able to catch up with demand”

-Hiroki Totoki
CFO, Sony

Sony has targeted to produce about 14.8 million PS5 consoles starting in April 2021. However, up to March 2021, Sony sold 7.8 million PS5. The company was able to sell 14.8 million PS4 till now as well and did not face any supply issues. Right now, Sony is getting more demand than they can supply.
